Азиатские буйволы прежде в больших количествах водились в долине Хула. В первой половине ХХ века буйволы покинули эти места. Лишь в 1995 году несколько особей были привезли сюда из заповедника Эйн Афек. Они стали размножаться, что говорит о многом: теперь буйволам благоприятствуют и экология, и свобода, и уход. Образ жизни этих буйволов тесно связан с водоёмами, желательно со стоячей или медленно текущей водой. Утром и вечером в прохладные часы буйволы пасутся, причём водная растительность составляет порой до 70% кормов, а всю жаркую часть дня лежат, погрузившись до головы в жидкую грязь.
